Attractive, durable, low maintenance, low insurance, energy efficient, safe, and quiet - this is a list of attributes most home owners seek. Homes constructed with Removable Concrete Forms (RCF's) have these positive characteristics and more. The technology used to construct foundations to high-rise structures for the past 40 years is now available for residential construction.
Western Forms manufactures aluminum RCF's that can be used repeatedly to build thousands of homes. Their ease of application allows for fast-paced construction of exterior walls, floors and roofs, decks, stairs, and interior bearing walls, even a total concrete shell. Proven performers, RCF's produce minimal waste, lower labor costs, and require fewer subcontractors, resulting in cost-savings for the contractor.
Contractors can choose to construct exterior walls only; exterior and interior walls; or, exterior and interior walls, ceiling and floor decks. In some instances they can even cast sloping roofs.
RCF homes are typically cast one level at a time resulting in a monlithic wall-deck configuration. Installing either metal or PVC conduit and junction boxes as the wall is formed can easily incorporate electrical outlets. Insulation, where required, can be applied on the interior (requiring drywall cover), sandwiched in the middle of the wall, or on the exterior of the home.
Once finished, concrete walls are indistinquishable from a drywall finish. Interiors are usually finished with a skim coat of plaster followed by paint. Pictures, cabinets, in fact, all of the accessories that hand from the walls of today's homes are easily attached to these walls with concrete wall fasteners.
